The Government has decided that Norwegian authorities recognise some Somali passports as travel documents from 1 August 2018.

Once you have submitted your application for a refugee travel document or an immigrant's passport to the police, the police will send it to UDI.

While you wait for an answer to your application for Norwegian citizenship, it is important that you make sure that you have a valid residence permit, and that you notify us if your situation changes.

If you have been granted a refugee travel document, you must attend an appointment with the police. You cannot use the travel document to visit your home country.

Permanent right of residence entitles you to stay and work in Norway indefinitely.

If you have been granted an immigrant's passport, you must attend an appointment with the police. Normally, you cannot use the immigrant's passport to visit your home country.
